Life Questions
What are you supposed to learn in this lifetime? Are there any questions that keep popping up in your mind throughout your life that you cannot yet answer? What issues continually trouble you? What is preventing you from living the life that you have always dreamed of? These are some questions with which to begin the process of learning which lessons we are being taught in this lifetime. I am Buddhist. I believe in reincarnation. As a Buddhist, I believe that I have lived many lives before this life and I also believe that I will continue to live many lifetimes after I die in this realm. I do not remember my previous lifetimes nor do I remember any of my future lifetimes.Time can be measured. But "time" itself does not actually exist. It is a concept which we, humans, use to be able to understand the idea of change. Change is all around us and within us. We are constantly changing inside our physical bodies. Our hearts pump blood, our lungs inhale and exhale, our stomachs digest food every day, our feet walk over different terrain everyday, and so on and so forth. We are constantly changing on the outside as well. We change our clothes everyday. We perform the same tasks everyday such as checking email, reading mail, or throwing out the trash. All of these things happen rather normally and we pay no special attention because they are part of our daily routines. But what is it that motivates us everyday? Why do we bother getting up in the morning? Why bother going to work, or making a pot of coffee, or waking up at all? Why do these things matter? Ask yourself those questions and hear what your mind responds. Then analyze your beliefs. Then just sit still. Try to sit still for 30 minutes. It will seem like an eternity. Try to anyway. Set your smartphone alarm. Let your mind wander. Don't try to think about anything specific. Just try to "watch" whatever thoughts come to you. Allow yourself to hear your own thoughts. You may be surprised by what you hear. Sit in silence for 30 minutes every day for the next 30 days and see how you change just by analyzing your own thoughts. You will begin to learn what you're supposed to learn in this lifetime. That is what we are all here for. To learn and to teach.
